2025 ARIZONA NORTH CHAPTER OF ASID
DESIGN EXCELLENCE AWARDS COMPETITION
The purpose of this design competition is to recognize outstanding projects by Members of the American Society of Interior Designers Arizona North Chapter. These projects represent Excellence in Design by successfully addressing client objectives while demonstrating creativity and skillful problem solving in a variety of categories.
QUALIFYING INFORMATION FOR ELIGIBILITY TO PARTICIPATE
Interior Designers
- Interior Designers and co-designers must be Professional, Allied or Associate members in good standing with the ASID Arizona North Chapter.
- Interior Design Firms are eligible to participate if the named principal designer on the project is an active member of the Arizona North Chapter of ASID.
- May only enter Residential/Commercial categories.
- No seated President or awards committee chair can enter awards.
Industry Partners
- Industry Partners are eligible to enter their projects if their principal place of business is in Arizona.
- Employees of these businesses may name the creator of the project with the stipulation that they must be an employee of the business and be the designated ASID Arizona North Chapter industry member.
- May only enter Industry Partner categories.
Students
- Design Students that are enrolled in a 2 or 4 year interior design program in Arizona are eligible to enter their projects.
- May only enter Student categories.
- Membership in the ASID Arizona North chapter is not a requirement for Student only categories
FEES
- Residential/ Commercial / IP - $185.00 per entry
- Student - $75.00 per entry
- Each entry requires a separate fee.
DEADLINE
- Registration, completed entries, and payment must be received by the DEADLINE - Sunday, May 25th , 2025 at 11:59 pm.
- Any entry purchased, but not completed by this date, will be disqualified with NO REFUND.
JUDGING
All judging is done anonymously, on a points-based system, by experienced ASID chapter designers, in good standing with the ASID organization.
ENTRY RULES
- Deadline for entries is Sunday, May 25th, 2025 at 11:59 pm. Late entries will not be accepted, no exceptions.
- All entries must be actual, physically installed projects unless otherwise noted.
- Each individual entry requires an entry fee.
- All entries must be submitted in the electronic format outlined below.
- Each entry must fall under one of the listed categories.
- Project may be entered in multiple categories.
- Eligible projects must have been completed after March 31st, 2023. (Two-year window)
- Projects may be re-entered:
- If they did not win first place
- If they fall within the eligibility date of completion
- ALL IMAGES and DOCUMENTS MUST BE LOADED AS JPG or PNG FILES. No PowerPoint or PDF uploads.
- A minimum of 2, and a maximum of 10 professional level photographs are required for each project. High quality photography is important because winning entries are published by Modern Luxury Interiors as well as Desert Design Magazine. They must meet the magazine editor’s criteria.
- Required photography permission documents[1]
- Owner Release
- Photographer Release for all photography
- NO identifying information about company or its people may be included on the Design Category Form in written descriptions or photos. This includes, but is not limited to: company descriptions, company addresses/stamps, and photos containing people.[2] Business logos may be included in photos if they are integral to the actual built design.
ONLINE DESIGN SUBMITTAL PROCESS
ASID Arizona North Chapter uses this electronic portal, CPJAM.com, through which design entries are submitted as well as judged anonymously.

Excludes model/spec home except for category R10
R01 Special Function Space - e.g., media room, home office, wine cellar, only one room of a residence
R02 Residence under 5,000 SF - total livable square footage
R03 Residence over 5,000 SF - total livable square footage
R04 Kitchen area in home less than 250 sq. ft. Measured by length and width of space.
R05 Kitchen area in home over 250 sq. ft. Measured by length and width of space.
R06 Bath area in home less than 60 sq. ft. Measured by length and width of space.
R07 Bath area in home over 60 sq. ft. Measured by length and width of space.
R08 Singular Space - e.g. Primary Suite, Guest Bedroom, Living Room, Great Room, Den, Family Room, Children's Bedroom, only one room of a residence
R09 Residential Outdoor Space
R10 Model/Spec Home/Show house – uninhabited single-family home or condo
R11 Total Remodel of single-family home or condo – requires before and after photos
R12 Universal Design /Aging in Place – single family home or condo
R13 Accessory Dwelling Unit under 1,000 Sf – e.g. casita, tiny home, must be detached, must be a livable space
R14 Custom Detail- designed for a specific project; includes any one-of-a-kind custom-made item including millwork, drapery, bed linens, and furniture. Manufacturer’s products not eligible for entry
R15 Sustainable/LEED Design – projects focusing on environmentally friendly products, installations and/or systems

C01 Corporate Office under 10,000 SF
C02 Corporate Office Over 10,000 SF
C03 Commercial Outdoor Space
C04 Senior Living Community - independent living
C05 Healthcare Facility Living – assisted care, memory care, nursing care
C06 Healthcare Facility Clinical – medical office, rehab, urgent care, hospital, hospice, etc.
C07 Hospitality - hotel, country club, spa, restaurant, etc.
C08 Retail - includes dispensaries, medical spas
C09 Singular or Special Function Space – one room or area of commercial property
C10 Custom Detail - designed for a specific project; includes any one-of-a-kind custom made item including millwork, drapery, bed linens, and furniture. Manufacturer's products not elegible for entry.
C11 Sustainable/LEED Design - projects focusing on environmentally friendly products, installations and/or systems
AWARD CATEGORIES - INDUSTRY PARTNER
IP01 Commissioned/Collaborative- submitted by IP for a specific project; includes any one-of-a-kind custom-made item. Manufacturer’s products not eligible for entry
IP02 Furniture – upholstery and/or free-standing case goods
IP03 Lighting - custom made for a specific project or for a new product line, product line must be named.
IP04 Permanent Fixture - must be permanently installed item, cabinetry, stair railing, fountain, fireplace, stonework, tile work, etc.
IP05 Rugs/Tile/Textiles - Custom made for a specific project or for a product line, product line must be named (e.g., rugs, tiles, window treatments, bedding, etc.)
IP06 Surface treatment – specialty finishing, plasterwork, custom wallpaper, murals, etc. Excludes stone or tile work.
AWARD CATEGORIES - STUDENT
S01 Residential Project completed as part of Interior Design Curriculum – non built/non photographed
S02 Commercial Project completed as part of the Interior Design Curriculum – non built/non photographed
S03 Sustainable and/or Universal Design Project completed as part of the Interior Design Curriculum - non built/non photographed
[1] It is best to get these documents signed off ASAP after project completion to prevent unforeseen circumstances that may prevent required signatures such as death, sale of the property, etc.
